If you answer these questions below, I'll do my best to help you out.

1. How are you firing your assault rifles (Full-Auto, Semi-Auto, or Bursting)?

2. How are you equipping your assault rifles?

3. How old is your PS2 controller?

4. Where exactly to you normally keep your crosshairs while running (Low, High, etc...)?

Look Speed I would recommend to set at 75% or more, this is how fast your character turns. When playing as an assault unit, you want to be as mobile as possible, and an increased Look Speed puts another Ace in your hand. From where it's at now, I'd suggest upping it a bit, playing some respawn, and adjust from there. Repeat that process untill you become comfortable with your settings.

Deadzone cares for how much you have to move your joystick before the game responds. Set that at zero, that way your actions are as immediate as possible.

When playing as an assault unit, try and keep your crosshairs at an effective level, and this is dependant on your gun's effective range and power. For example, I primarily use the HK 36 as a Seal, and I'm a rusher. When I'm moving I try to keep my crosshairs in a position where I would hit an opponent mid-chest to head when they're within 10-20 feet. I do this because when in full-auto, that's the gun's most effective range.

Check the -SOCOM 3 RUSHING TIPS AND TACTICS- thread for other useful tidbits.

With rushing/full-auto, I don't try to go straight for the head because it's a smaller target than the chest. Also, with the way the game lags, and F90 BS, you want to hit them with as many bullets as possible.

Well. For starters, follow what M1KE said, because it's good advice. If you have the front grip unlocked, use that along with the rifle laser to give you better accuracy stats for your weapon. Maybe try to burst your weapon (3-5 rounds fired at a time) instead of going full-auto.

If you able, go out and get a new controller. Sometimes the dual analog sticks on the cheaper models will wear out, and won't work as good as intended. That may explain why you are dipping down a little when you are engaging a target.

I definilty agree with what is said above, once i uped my lookspeed i was able to kill people a lot faster then i was before, and i don't get killed from the back as much as i used to.

i don't think that upping you look speed is the answer for everyone. suppose he is in a frantic battle, and the guy is moving around like crazy, how is he suppose to hit the guy if his look speed is up too high. sure he can practice, but upping his look speed to near max or max, just may be too much to handle for him. what would be better is to mess around with different look speeds and see which one is best for him.

depends mostly on the person adjustin the look speed...... but in my case ive changed all of them to their best possible settings and ive done great in sniping matches(devils road) where i get into my spot and im havin to shoot as fast as i can to take out all the people and all the extra fast reactions makes me shootin ppl at a fast rate..for example last week i was playin in Devils road( Snipers only..no pistol subs mg and so on) and i got into my spot wit the l96aw or sr-25 with high scope or 12x scope and i was killin ppl at around 12 or 13 seconds for 8 or 9 kills..i got mvp way ahead of everybody by at least 30+ points...very high kills low deaths

Don't even think that this will help but have you tried lowering all the things like lookspeed and other stuff to about 50% that's what i have them all on and i have a couple thousands kills on single player.
