Gun Fight Questions for Elite Players or S3 owners
These questions is for anyone who wins gun fights alot. I always have problems killing good players they always seem to the aimer in the perfect place. I always have problems trying to get the aimer for a headshot because good players will waste you if you go for the body. My questions is there a certain lookspeed, deadzone, acceleration that works really well in guns fights?..and what does accerlation, lookspeed, and dead zone do?..and is there a certain way to control the aimer so its in a good place right when you shoot..like do you place the aimer in the middle or high or whatever? and lastly whats the best way to move in a gunfight? like left to right or left to right or whatever. Ill really look forward to any replys and any of the questions answered will be fine they dont all dont gotta be answered, they were just questions that I thought were important to get better in gun fights vs good players.

FIRST! aimer...crosshair, crosshair not aimer.

THere's no certain lookspeed or dead zone settings that are recommended, it's jsut preferrence, a higher lookspeed means you turn faster, acceleration means your player responds faster and dead zone is how much you have to move your analog stick before your character responds. If you want to get head shots, put the centre of the crosshair on your opponents chest, because when you begin to fire, your crosshairs will go up a bit, and try not to just hold down the trigger, pull and release, your shots will be more accurate. The hardest way to get kills in S3 is by holding down the trigger on a full auto, cause the bullets will go everywhere, and occaisionally you'll get a headshot like that, but if you want a more reliable way, just fire burst shots and try and keep your crosshairs on the target. hope i helped!

Basically, most people just take a Medium/High Scope and practice aiming for the head whenever they get the chance. What I do, is I find a certain mark on a wall or building, walk back a fair distance away, and try to quick scope that. The scope is bouncing the entire time, and you have to have precise timing. Dont move your crosshairs with the analog, position them as close as possible, then let the scope bounce to your target.

Long post but here are a few things that I practice when I play.

Clearing a room/zone:

First of all always have your crosshairs pointing towards danger areas (doors, stairs, etc) The first step to winning a battle is being prepared for it. I have been over a friend’s house and watched him play. His crosshairs tend to be all over the place. Personally when I enter a room I mark the corners, and hiding points when I first enter a room. Once the room is secure then I target the doorway to the next room. In addition always try to keep your crosshairs in a position that would hit a target in the upper chest if they do pop out. Sometimes, a player is just going to get the jump on you, it's a simple truth, but if you are at least aiming in the right spot you may win the battle or at least take him with you.

Fire Control:

Secondly as shadow said, shoot in bursts. It is much easier to control the recoil if you only let out 2-3 bullets rather than spraying a whole clip. Not to mention you can take allot more quality shoots without having to reload. By shooting in bursts you can keep your crosshairs mostly on the body of your target.

Cover:

Third tip is use cover. Now with socom 3 this is tricky since a lot of the boxes, walls etc are bugged and bullets will at times pass through them. However, allot of people think, that once they are spotted there is no reason to use cover, instead they just run headlong into the fight. By using cover then you can wait for the key opportunity to strike, such as when they are reloading, or turn their body the wrong way. One time on Boneyard I actually danced around a stack of drywall while the other player dumped his entire load of ammo into it. Then when he was trying to fumble for his pistol it was an easy kill. Now that is an extreme situation and I do not advise waiting that long most of the time but it really helps illustrate the value of using cover.

Preserve Ammo:

This next tip is obvious, and really is an extension of the other tips but still worth mentioning. Do not fire unless you have a target in your crosshairs or in tactical situations when laying suppression fire. Using my friend from the last example, he is spraying all his ammo into the drywall despite the fact that he can not hit me. I try to be very deliberate with my shots and really try to make every bullet count. This also carries into the concept of shooting in bursts, if you are firing 6 feet over the head of your enemy you are wasting shots and will most likely be dead in moments.

Lastly do not panic, go into every fight cool and calm. Be deliberate with your shots, and be deliberate with your movements. Try to anticipate which way he is going to move

one thing i learned the hard way is when you are trying to shoot someone in a firefight, and you are running sideways, aim alittle in front of them that way most shots hit the target. especially if your on full auto like me

first fire all you're guns like a m16 in socom 2 AKA tap R1. then if you want the head shots just play respawn...I prefer 100 accel, 100 lookspeed, and 50 deadzone just because i can turn around fast enough to own scrubs who can't shoot :) Also i can snipe and get my crosshairs aligned faster.

If your acceleration/Look speed are low, then you have to be facing the target before the fight begins so you can track them and keep your distance because you can't turn around fast.

If they are set high, then you need to work on your reflexes and self-control... as well as know places to go and surprise people from.
