Try to start sniping with a rifle that requires more accurate aim for a one-hit kill (i.e. L-96, SR-25, M-40, etc...). After your aim/reflexes are really sharp, go back to using an OSOK, and you'll be surprised at how well you do.

Not so very long ago, when I was the definition of a n00b sniper, I was always SO angry when I got shot and couldn't even tell were it was coming from. So then I figured, well, I'm always a SEAL so I know all my buddies sniping places, so I go to the terrorists and get 3 kills (there were 5 peeps playing on SEALS). So now that I know all the terr. sniping spots, I go back to SEALs and, 4 kills. So it's always really good to know the map and switch teams avery once in a while.

Tip: A silenced sniper rifle can SAVE YOUR 455! Hypothetical situation: you have an M87ELR, you see what you think is a guy, you shoot, it wasnt a guy, you give away your position, and get shot in the face. Now, lets say your using an SR-25 SD. You see what you think is a guy, you shoot, it isn't, BUT IT DOESNT MATTER. No noise, no muzzle flash, an no ones the wiser.

One rifle I've learned to love is the SR-25 with a Medium Scope and Bipod. The range is pretty much as far as the OSOK's, and the rate of fire can't be beat. I truly think this is an awesome combination, especially if you are shooting at a group of 2 or more people.

I've got a tip for all of you snipers that love to snipe from the ridge of the terrorists' spawn on harvester small......keep doing it. I can't tell you how many times I've caught tools still laying there after the whole seals team has made it to the windmill. If a seal can make it up the buttcrack path, all they have to do is lay down next to that rock and you are toast, remember that the next time you see me in game....I have no problem with camping, as I love to snipe, but as forementioned....CHANGE YOUR SPOTS. Also, remeber to check behind you in the middle of a round; you are scoped in and do not have a wide view making it easy for anyone to walk right past you, I've seen in way too many times.

yes - change your spots -
its okay to return to your favorite once you given at least couple of other looks...

of course - this should not only apply to sniping - but is a little more important - as a sniper often isnt moving...

scopes?

high scope of course...unless you are sniping on a map like tidal fury then use the medium as the 16x will almost never come in handy -

personally, I never realized that I do this....until my brother pointed it out -

1. scan in 6.0x - where you can move the scope faster
2. moving targets...zoom into 10.0x
3. use the 16.0x when you see another sniper or someone whos stationary...or of course...know that you ae looking long range...

with the high scope at 16.0x - it is possible to see all the way across the middle section of the city (with the road through the middle)....from the top of one wall to the other side, once you know where and what you are looking for when someone is there...

ok - after I posted that - i realized that the high scope isnt available on some of the other sniper rifles...

I normally snipe with the M87 - and I use the medium scope when using the SR or SASR...

I normally only use them though on maps like Tidal Fury...

Harvester Small

Well, I'm a sniper myself, so I'm just going to list the best spots that I've found on Harvester small.

*This is with a ghillie suit, so you might not do so well without one*

~Seals~
Well, there are a lot of places to snipe for the seals, depending on what items are enabled on the room you are in.

If you're a camping sniper, go to the "U" rock and get up against the wall. You can then snipe any terrorist that decides to run through the crack to the windmill. There is also the ledge to the left. From there you can watch if anyone runs to the barn, or scoot over a bit and see if they come from the left side of the house, or go up on the far ledge. If you follow that ledge down to the right, there is a little dip with some grass. With a ghillie suit, this is a perfect spot to pick off anyone who goes for the ledge to the left of the house. Then you can always go behind the "U" rock or up on the grassy hill to pick off anyone that decides to rush your spawn, which usually doesn't happen unless you're the last one alive on your team.

If you're a rushing sniper, there aren't a whole lotta choices for great spots. Depending on items enabled, you can always rush the house and follow the ledge to the right and pick off anyone running for the barn, or pull out ur pistol to kill anyone on top. You could also go in the door to the left, but check to see if anybody is coming around the far left side before you go in. If you don't want to rush that far, you can act like ur heading to the windmill, but just keep to the far left and get back in the crack and snipe the barn. You can also peek out from there and kill any terrorist that is sniping on the little ridge to the left of the house, or on the hill.

~Terrorists~
I myself favor the terrorist on this map, just because they have a slight advantage if they play their cards right.

I'll start off with the camping spots first. Most people go for the little ridge before the hill to the right of the house. You can easily pop any heads that dash for the windmill. I myself, go below that because some people just glance at the top. Then there is "The Hill". As soon as you spawn, you can basically prone and be completely hidden with ur ghillie suit. There are better spots than others on there, but you can find them out yourself. The barn is probably my favorite choice. You should run for it as soon as you spawn. Stop at the tree to scope out any rushers, and when its clear, you can head upstairs. This gives you a pretty good view of most of the map. Instead of going upstairs, follow the wall to the left and you can lay down in the grasses and snipe anybody around the house, or do the same thing insdie the barn, looking out the door. My favorite spot near the barn is right up against the side of the wall, in front of the crates where you would climb to the top, and on the tree side. You can see anybody who goes through the windmill side to your respawn, and anybody who goes up on the hill to the right of the house.

Rush sniping isn't as easy for terrorists. I can only name 3 good spots to run for, so I'll get right into them. A favorite spot of mine is to run for the windmill and come back around to the hill you would run if you went by the house to the windmill. You can kill anybody around the house, or wait for a rusher to go past and pull out your pistol. Another spot is to run straight for the ridge. This doens't always work out for me, since everybody snipes there. The only other spot I can think of is running for the left side of the house and proning there, but you usually get killed by rushers or sniped.

Well, I hope this helps at least one person ...

*NOTE*
When camping, use the one shot kill snipers. You usually have time to get a shot, and people probably already know where you are, so you don't have to be so sneaky.

When rushing, I find it better to use the SASR or the SR-25 with a 12x scope and a silencer. They allow you to shoot a lot faster, which can get you out of tough spots or keep your spot hidden from the enemy.

Well, thats its ..... off to play some Socom :D
