Connection Speed and Playing Online
I'm currently running at 4797 Kbps. How does this compare to others? What can I do to increase this speed. Does anyone know if having a faster connection improves online game play? Such as when coming around a corner, who will see who first? The guy with the slower or faster connection?

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come down to who has the better connection. It depends on the connection of everyone in the room. If anyone's connection is poor, then the rest of the players in the room are going to experience lag or notice some effect. It does even things up during the game but it also penalizes players who have fast connections by reducing their gameplay quality. Hopefully, the servers' compacity levels will be improved and will reduce these effects.

Here are a few sites for you:

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

http://www.computers4sure.com/speed3.asp?Sp=4210.5

http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/

I have a service called RoadRunner and use a Linksys Etherfast Cable router for my ps2 and computer.

My connection is 1200 kbps download and 700 kbps at optimum conditions. I used to have a 54mb router and it didn't work. I now have a 100mb router and it's more than enough. Most wired routers are 100mb. Some wireless are 100mb, but most are half that.

Speed

3.4 megabits per second
Communications 3.4 megabits per second
Storage 411.1 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 2.5 seconds
Subjective rating Awesome

My connection is decent, yet I seem to always get the bad end of the lag spectrum. Just my luck, huh?
