NOTES:
All testing was done ONLINE and at 30 meters except for the shotguns which was done at 10 meters. Shots where fired at center mass i.e. “Above the belt to below the neck line and from shoulder to shoulder“. As you can see from the list above, no weapon in the SOCOM 3 arsenal takes more than 3 shots to kill someone. Shooting at the back of the target also at center mass achieved the same results.

From testing I concluded a very consistent shot to damage health ratio with weapons that have a 3 shot kill ratio, The First shot did less then half damage and the second did less then half, this left you with a red bar and only an 1/8 of your health left. With that said, the last shot does not have to be center mass, it could be made anywhere else on the body and you would effectively kill your target. The legs registered to take about a ¼ from your health. The arms varied a little bit from 1/8 to a ¼. Head shots on all weapons would kill the target.
The 2 shot to kill weapons using the same fraction ratio as above registered as, 1st shot toke ½ away from your health and the 2nd shot another ½ killing the target.
With the 1 shot to kill weapons as long as you hit center mass, it would kill the target.
Also to note, that silencing the weapon made no change to the shots to kill ratio, it only effected it’s range. In respect to the effective range of the weapons, firing at anything outside the range of that weapon did not register, so good bye are the days of people sniping someone from across the board with the DE. It cannot happen in SOCOM 3.

For accuracy it is hard to describe which ones are better than the other, for example the 9mm from a distance of 30meters toke 10 shots just to get the 3 that actually hit the target, this was the worst case. We repeatedly did the same test just to make sure that the shots to kill ratio for that weapon was genuine. The machine guns did the same thing though not nearly as bad with 1 or 2 shots missing the target completely at 30 meters. The assault rifles and assault carbines did very will, they never missed a beat when hitting the target at 30meters.

My 2 cents, From testing all these weapons, one thing strongly standed out to me, why would almost all of the main weapon rifles not including sniper rifles of course have the same shot to kill ratio. It puzzled me since in SOCOM 2 there where differences, the HK5 toke 6 shots and the M14 toke 2, that made sense to me i.e. “bigger bullet” M14 shots a 308 the HK5 shots a 9MM, the M14 had more stopping power. This is truly not the case in socom 3. What I do see is the weapons ability to stay on target out to its effective range on FULL AUTO!!!. All of our testing was done on single shot if available or tapping the firing button on a full auto weapon to hit the target. When you go FULL AUTO with any of these weapons the bullets start to spread out, This spreading out of the bullets I believe is different per weapon and I believe its range has a factor in when this spread occurs.

Added info 3-7-06

The info I had done showed that anything outside the weapons range did not register, yes it is correct that if you hit the target it will show up as blood mark but it will not hurt the target, I agree very annoying. I have read allot on this subject and the weapons having a range of only 125m in my opinion is just plain absurd and there are allot of people that agree with me. But as you'll read further there is a FOG in this game that hinders seeing anything to the actual real world ranges of the weapons anyways.

The 50 cal. sniper rifles are the only ones that went beyond the 125m barrier that so many other weapons have. We tested distances all the way up to 190m with the 50cal's and the shots registered, we even had some headshots that brought down the target from that range, but anything outside of this and the FOG as I call it blinds the target anyways. You can't see anything beyond 190m, even at ranges from about 175 and up, you really have to struggle just to see the target because of the FOG. To tell you the truth during the testing at 190m if we weren't calling out where each of us where on opposite sides of an area trying to see each other we probably could not even have tested at more than 180m. The only thing that maybe you could see during regular game play at 190m plus is the muzzle flash at that distance of the target and then maybe you could take a shot in the dark and hope it hits.

Special thanks to A.WOLF in assisting in testing.

i honestly think he didnt do this and is just guessing. every guns firepower is alot different than 1 or 2 shots. i think this because i snipe 90% of the time with the 87elr and 82a1a and if u are really far away and can barely see them, it takes 2 shots unless its a head shot

The data I posted is legit, it is be far not guessing, I did not post this information to have it discredited, because you apperently missed on the first shot while sniping some one from far away. The testing was done at 30 meters and that included sniper rifles. Go and try it for yourself, just pick one weapon and you and a friend try it out in a room. You will have the same results.

Go to the link below where the actual SOCOM 3 Development Team answerd a question about the .50 cal sniper rifles, see October 7. They said
"A .50 Cal sniper rifle will kill with one hit if you hit them in the torso, but will not if you hit them in an arm or leg."

Good info man, If people don't want to believe you that is thier opinion. Personally I agree with all of your data since I have done some of the similar tests although not as in depth. Good job.

Thank you for all of your hard work. This should become a sticky, and hopefully other people will add information along the same lines, on attachments, equipment, etc.

Great info thanks for taking away your time to help us. But at a certain distance, the 2 shots snipers do kill in 2 or more shots. I did a Devils Road small and I shot a guy from the back of seals spawn at the back of the terrorist spawn in the chest and he got hit and ran behind a building, i got him later though.

I take it that Zipper buggered about with the weapons from this info, as no assault rifle has a maximum range of less than 200 metres... but then again, Zipper put in a ***** of a fog of war... perhaps on PS3 the machine will have enough processing power to make SOCOM truly great

Cheers dude, saves all of us from having to work it out ourselves
