Is it worth it?

Hey everyone right now I have a xbox and haven't been playing it that much. I saw that socom 3 came out and nearly died. I love shooter games but I just dont have an PS2. Is the game worth it? I am really thinking about trading in my xbox and getting a PS2 just for that reason. So is the game worth giving up my xbox, and do you have to pay to get online like xbox live?? Thanks for everything. This game sounds amazing

The socom series is my favorite games. You don't have to pay like live but for socom 3 you have to go through a vertification process which isn't much. Ps2 games are not pay to play.

Nope, not pay to play unless its an RPG, ( Everquest, Final Fantasy )

But I still havent gotten a new router, and i don't know if my mom will freak about the credit card thing. oh well.

Worth will depend on the User, and just to start NO, you don't have to pay to play it online, you will need a CC# to verify your account for extra options like friends list and clan members, however you pay nothing other than the cost of the Game, and in your case the PS2.

To trade depends on what you like, I would suggest renting a PS2 and the game, and see what you think. I have spent around $200 on games that have been returned in a month because they did not stand up to SC2, and now with SC3 out, I will rent everything before I buy when it comes to games. BF is the only other shooter I may check out, for now, SC3 is where it's at.

In most everygame I have been a part of in the past 3 days I always seem to hear "this is what a Game should be"

Good luck, and if possible try before you buy, just because 40,000 or more socom users maybe online every day, does not mean that you will like it.

oh why do they need a credit card then, hopefully my mom wont freak, shes thinks that everything that needs a credit card online is bad. Sigh.

Socom is worth trading in. I have never played a game as fun as SOCOM, if you want to keep your Xbox, I would buy PS2 anyway. The verification process is nothing, just need a credit card which will not be charged.

with the new systems coming out soon I don't see any reason you wouldn't want to trade it in. this is the best game for the PS2 (and is only rivaled by Halo on the xbox) (don't flame me for the last parenthases!).

Its not pay to play like halo 2. you dont need a credit card to play online. only reason you need a credit card is for verification purposes. and they dont charge you the dollar they put it back. heres a link that answeres all ure questions.

Yea I had friend who bought a slim ps2 s2 and ethernet cord. Now he wont stop coming over my house to play s2. Talk about internet bums That so-crackfiend

so I believe once u start playing online you will be hooked on the drug that we socomers call So-crack. Its just that addictive.

Is the game worth it...well..you heard what the people in this thread said YES! For the credit card thing...make you mom/dad read the agreement.... that will calm them down about it...It clearly states that you will not be charged. As for the xbox bs....I mean...if you've played Xbox online..then you should have no problem with your mom/dad and the credit card...seeing as how you've payed for X-box live before.
