Ok here's my question, i got 512 mb cable connection and whenever im on the internet it runs fine,but whenever i try to connect to play socom it lags like krazy and keep booting me to the main menu.Can anybody help me resolve this problem.
Are you ever downloading stuff off the internet when you play? That could be the problem, that was my friend's prblem with his lag. Who knows it could be the same for you :D

Is it ony with Socom 2? try any other online game(that does not lag as much) if it is socom then its just normal sometimes (especaly now a days) if its your conection,disconect any other device that uses the internet you may have connected to the modem. Or you can also recheck you network settings to ensure that they are correct. also dont forget you firewall may be interfearing with the gameplay.
I have a similar problem, I used to NEVER lag out, now its garaunteed to happen a couple of times every time I sign on. I hate when Im on a roll putting up MVP numbers then I lag out
I dont have a router either, Comcast High Speed Internet and for some reason I ALWAYS get booted

If you use a router, it might not be up to speed. If less than 100mb, it will lag severely. I could be wrong, however. I'm not too brilliant when it comes to this crap.

if u got a longer ethernet cable it will affect the lag.
the length of the ethernet cable doesnt matter, the data that travels between your PS2 and the Socom server travels at the speed of light. Im sure an extra foot of cable wont affect it
