I don't have any Zipper-related info on this subject. But, I'll say this: I don't think it's likely that the .50cals will be weakened into 2-shot/kill weapons. I have one or two reasons for this:

1) In real life, a hit by a .50cal weapon usually carries enough impact to not just kill a man. A .50cal round striking a human body over any distance normally lifts the body into the air and explodes the body simply from impact and the way the bullet behaves upon impact. I'm sure some posters have seen videos of .50cal snipers in action.

2) It seems unlikely that the Navy SEALs asked to provide technical/tactical guidance for the game would agree to it. Not that it isn't Zipper's decision in the end. But, a SEAL would probably argue a strong point against weakening a .50cal weapon.

Snipers should be allowed the opportunity to achieve a 1 shot/1 kill hits. If not, then snipers are just great spotters and nothing else.

They haven't persay weakened any gun... they levelled them out to be more equal for that matter... and the hit detection you will only have to hit someone like 1-5 times tops instead of like 6+ to kill them besides a headshot with just about any gun like in socom1

A: Every scope has a different reticule, so the reticule you use will depend on which scope attachment you have equipped on your gun.

Q: What are the different sizes for the maps? What is the smallest size, and how could it compare to a specific map from S2?

A: Maps are of all different sizes. The biggest map is about five times the size of Foxhunt while the smallest is about the size of Blizzard. However, nearly all maps can be played using a smaller play area and some of these partitioned play areas equate to the size of Frostfire.

Q: How will the new encumbrance system work?

A: Each weapon, attachment and equipment item has an encumbrance load associated with it. When your encumbrance passes a minimum threshold point, your top speed will degrade. At maximum load, you can only move 50% of your top speed. Better equipment has a higher load so you will have to make strategic choices about which items you want to equip if you want to avoid encumbrance movement penalties.

Q: What about strafing momentum and bullet damage affecting the victim?

A: Every time a bullet hits you it will slow you down. This simulates the stopping power of the weapon being used. Higher-power weapons will slow you down more than a low-powered pistol.

Q: How effective is the public beta? Have there been drastic improvements to the game already?

A: The public beta process reveals bugs and server issues, which improves the quality of the game. As a result, the game has improved by leaps and bounds since the public beta was released.

NO bullett no matter what caliber it is will not lift or throw back a human like it does in movies and video games. This is a proven fact and if i can find the proof ill put it here but thats the truth. Movies and games do that for the excitment factor. Real life a 50 cal will rip through your body like butter and a hot knife.

Thats true Swifty. I think it's as much recoil you feel, is how much your enemy is pushed back or something to that extent.
But imagine shooting someone off a cliff with you sniper rifle, and it counts as a suicide for them.

You guys should keep in mind that the maximum draw distance will be a lot further away than in SOCOM II. Meaning that you'll be able to probably take shots equal to the distance of blizzard lengthwize. Also, it says that a hit slows down the target, so if you hit them you can probably do a quick follow-up shot, and you won't be vunerable to their fire being at such a great distance away(like in real life). So, in my opinion, I think that this will be a better thing for the game, making sniping not easier or harder, but just different.

your right...it wouldn't throw someone in the air but it would tear through their body leaving them almost severed in half!

also i dont think the .50 cal should be in the game...cause in real life in war you are not alowed to shoot people with a .50 cal. I think it would be good though to put it in the game as an anti tank/vehicle weapon so one shot to the engine disables it, and make it so if someone shoots a person with it they get some sort of penalty.

i also saw a post about not being able to put a high power scope on the m40 or sr...that is false cause i saw a screen shot of the armory, and the guy had an sr with high power scope, and another one with the m4 with high power scope.

**** that, that's retarded. Sniping will now officially suck. Silencers make the range crap, no one hit kills...the .50cals slow you down but don't even kill in one hit. DUMB.

If the snipers don't kill in one hit now, I bet the aiming on your scope is alot better or you can take more than one shot a second. I still think those big .50 snipers should kill in one hit, but also have a less steady scope and be required to take longer to prepare your next shot.
