I can help too
all you have to do is OPEN the PORT the mic runs on in the router:

FIRST thing you need to find is your PS2's IP address. You can get this in the PS2 "network configuration", write this # down, it will be like 192.168.x.x

Secondly, you have to goto your ROUTERs config settings, usually you goto your internet browser (a.k.a. URL), and type http://192.169.1.1
this is for a LINKSYS router, I believe D-LINK is the same, check in the manual on accessing the router config.

Third, usually you leave username blank, and type "ADMIN" in for the password to access the config (again, this is for linksys, D-Link might be slightly diff.)

Fourth, find "Port Forwarding" in your config, and enter the following:

check the boxes (UDP, TCP), and type in your PS2's IP for the IP. Type in 6869 for the PORT #, make sure that all the necessary boxes are check, click APPLY.

fire up the PS2 and your mic should work!

More info . . . . .
Thats right Lucky 7 and remember Socomers the port is 6869.

Additional information on router config settings; make sure your computer's IP address is on the same network as the router itself. For instance, a D Link router using 192.168.0.1 (usually the initial configuration for this mfg.) with 255.255.255.0 (subnet mask/class c subnet) this warrants your computer to have a static address or dynamic would work as well, on the same network to be able to administer it. I also recommend that you change the router's inside address and subnet mask (LAN address). Reason, real broad range when dealing with various network topologies (for those advanced savvy gamers/pc users). It also could cause problems when dealing with conduits and different accesses to your network behind the firewall. You should use an ip address that has a different number in the third octet other than zero. For instance, 192.168.1.x / 255.255.255.0 - Configure the router to dynamically distribute IP addresses and your PS2 and other devices will receive the correct IP range/address/subnet. Lessen the number of available IP address given out for more security.

If memory serves me correctly, to administer the D Link routers the username is "admin" with "password" as the passcode. I definitely advise that you change this passcode. Also, careful not to allow remote administration with a lame passcode; most home users don't need to remote adminstrer their network. But if you do, be careful and use alpha numeric passcodes.

Good Luck,

Manish

Wireless Network Topology/2 pc workstations/ 1 laptop / 1 G4 mac / 1 ps2 - connected to network via wireless bridge/ additional cisco pix firewall 515r for good measure / yeah baby!

If it's an old SOCOM mic, try to fix it yourself. Find some diagrams. If it's a new one, return it saying that it's defective, or somesuch, and get a new one.

You can't send it to a shop to be fixed.

Im not understanding the whole thing with the router. I cant find my ps2s address and when I try to log on the D-link url I use admin and no password like the manual says and it keeps telling me unauthorized and wont let me in. When I got to my friends house and take my ps2 and hook it upto his router it works. The same happens when he comes here. But we can only communicate to each other. WTF!!!!

Ze Mic
I've noticed a few things with the old SOCOM1 mics. A) They're pretty horrible/weak, even though they're made by Logitech. The part you usually find screwed up is where the wire connects to the little box. Usually, the wires within the box are seperated for whatever reason, people stepping on the wire, it being pulled, reasons like that. My friend and I took a look at it and basically, I can get mine to work again if I had a soldering iron, since the only problem is that the wire is too short now. Don't know if this helps anyone or not...

As for my problem I guess you could call it. People have been telling me that Mics don't work when 2 PS2s are hooked up to a router. Although me and my friend have used both our mics on my router. But then eventually, one mic gives up while the other is working, and vice versa. Usually unplugging and replugging the mic works, or if not it'll usually fix itself somehow. So are the mics crapping out because of the router?

I believe that if you have forgotten your admin password and you need to start over with the router configuration. You should be able to take a paper clip and press the reset button on the router. This will of course reset all the settings to factory defaults, but at least the admin password will match what the documentation states.
