Newbie Questions
Hi, I just got SOCOM II Saturdary and just had a couple of questions.
1. Is there a site I can goto, that breaks down each gun in depth. Online, I usually dont have the time, because I am so anxious to play.
2. I seem to struggle when I am fighting one on one with someone. What type of tactics do you guys use. Do you move left and right while adjusting the crosshair? Also, if I am using a gun that sails such as the M14, if I only shoot it about 5 times and then pause, will it automatically go back down to where I had it aimed before i started shooting/

If you perform a search, you can probably get a general idea of each gun's stong points and weaknesses. It will take you probably much longer than you would like, but thats about the best I can do.

One of the best ways to beat someone in a firefight is to not engage in a firefight at all. It may be hard at first, but once you learn how to move around someone without being seen, the kill comes much easier. Anyways, to answer your question, I see a lot of people zig zag side to side in firefights all the time. I also see a lot of people bull rush straight to the face in firefights. I dont usually sway side to side, just because it takes too long to get a clean shot. I have found that when I am not able to rush them, I will move around my enemy while going crazy (bob and weave, while pressing the jump button at the right time). Keep your movements unpredictable and the crosshairs in between the eyes. Dont forget to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!! Good Luck

What i would recommend for this is just try out all the weapons your self in game, getting all the stats and stuff, may not help you much, like i hear the M14 is the best gun for terrorists but i really suck with it, so i stick with my good old STG :). So basicly, try out all the weapons and see which one you like the most

On the topic of going one on one:
1.Make shure you have your wepon ready(ammo, clip,Fire rate).
2.Either camp in a high traffic point(a place players travel often) or in a secluded area(for sniping), or clear areas of suspition with grenades or flashbangs.
3.If the last peson left is sniping, find out from where(don't get shot) and get around them without being seen.
4.If you get rushed, don't panic!! Jump around like crazy and shoot at your opponent only at oppertune times.
Other than that, have fun above all!!!!! :D [/quote]

if you shoot you crosshairs go more or less up because of recoil (i think thats what you call this).
if you shoot small salves of bullets, you will not recoil as much and yes your crosshairs will remain more in the disired initial position.
neverthless, I find that shooting like crazy is good, and doing enought of it, I automatically push downwards a bit while shooting. this is a long pratice and is to adapt for each type of gun, so have a good time getting used to your favorites. (I recommend favorits, as with map change, some guns are more efficient, fast machien guns in small maps, long sharp shooters in others)
now for one to one situations, I mouve only on one side. often a one to one turn up in two people going in circles in front of each other.
So just before ending my clip, i change my circling mouvement the other way, and sometinmes do it much soner (at half clip). so i will change direction and spoil the enemis aim. me, I'm prepared to my mouve, so I find a hit sonner than him.
I dont find mouving side to side is so much efficient. As those who do this get my shoot in the middle of their waving attitude, and in général, a couple will fall to deathl before I do.
bye,
a french socom 2 gamer.

Hey thanks for the TIPS guys. I still pretty much suck at the game, but I will continue to play. Now, I only play on the Crossroads map, because that is where me and my brother get on to play.
I am normally a TERRORIST and I switch back and forth between the SD 77 and the M14. I have alot of trouble switching from Gun to Grenade at this point even when they are both Quick Selects 1 and 2.
I wish they would have put an OFFLINE practice type mode on the game.
I still enjoy the game and will continue to work on my skills.
BTW, what is a "Medley" Room?

Also, I have a quick question about the Controller Defaults.
As of now, the only setting that I have changed is to make the Select Button the Auto Fire Button and the L3 the info screen button. Are there any other adjustments that will help me improve my game?

an offline practice would be cool, with bots like MOH, but a medly room is where they play all of a certain type. Like demo, extract escort etc. once you play more maps you will see the diff types

Look for respawn rooms (frost fire, vigilance, etc.) (make sure it says 'respawn' in the description).
These rooms will not effect your rank and allow you to test different guns and strategies. Respawn means that when you die - you wait 10 seconds and then come back to life, and the games are 20 minutes long.
A great way to try new weapons and practice aiming. The game pace is usually a LOT quicker though - but fun!

A lot of people adjust the tuning of there controller so they can turn quicker. You could look at this, however I would suggest playing for a while before you change these settings.

basically just test out the guns and just use one that fits your fighting style. when in a fire fight, just try your best to keep your enemy in your crosshairs why smoothly moving around. if you jerk around too much you will just f-word it up for yourself.
